I'm officially done caring about politics

Did you hear the big news? No, not the Nutella news, that's old news. The new news is that supreme court rolled back campaign finance laws so now corporations can give unlimited funds to political candidates! Finally! I was so upset that Walmart and AIG weren't getting a fair shake in American politics.

Now I can't wait for Blue Cross or Aetna to buy up congressional seats so I will be forced to pay through the nose for substandard health insurance under a mangled health care bill. That will be SWEET.

I think I might be done voting. Doesn't seem to make any difference. I'll start getting involved again when the good old guillotines get dusted off.

The French had the right idea.

  1. That was incredible...but I don't think BCBS will be buying anything. They have no money...but who does, really.

  2. Welcome to the dark (or should I say mentally light) side of people who flit about, not even really knowing how many senators there even are.

  3. I'm going to keep voting but I'm going to try to stop caring. At least for a while.

  4. If you check out Karl Denninger's post on the ruling over at The Market Ticker, he has some kind of interesting ideas about how this might be a valid point on the part of SCOTUS.
Cognitively, I have to respect his argument, but viscerally, I know this was a complete chickenshit ruling. I'm not going to stop voting over it, if only because the cost of gathering enough information to cast a ballot is negligible, but it's certainly one more branch of our government that seems to have jumped the shark...pathetic.

  5. grow up, we live in a theocracy, and your vote goes to the jesus freak with the most money backing him ( and i do me 'him'). voting only perpetuates the farce.
